Segment LCD displays are the most energy-efficient display technology available. Unlike pixel-matrix displays, segment LCDs use pre-defined patterns (segments) that are selectively activated to show numbers, letters, and symbols. Because only a small number of electrodes are driven at any time, power consumption can be measured in microwatts — making segment LCDs the display of choice for battery-powered devices, utility meters, and any product where energy consumption is a critical design constraint.
Relialink manufactures custom segment LCD modules for OEM customers, with electrode patterns, glass dimensions, and connector configurations designed to exactly match the customer’s product requirement. Common applications include electricity meters, water meters, gas meters, household thermostats, kitchen scales, medical wearables, and remote controls.
Unlike standard catalog products, segment LCD designs are typically project-specific — Relialink works with customers from the specification stage through tooling and mass production. Our engineering team can design custom segment patterns from your artwork or product concept, with glass tooling lead times of 3–5 weeks.
